Always park the car in the shade and leave windows open
Preparation
Preparation is always the best way to create a happy dog being left in their vehicle while Mantrailing. Below are some tips to help your dog enjoy being in the vehicle.
- Feeding your dog in the vehicle
- Giving them a tasty Kong while you pop away for a few minutes
- Don't make a fuss when you leave or return to them
- Creating a safe place (blocking out the windows for example]
- Practising what you will be doing on the day (getting your dog out and doing something fun but tiring with them for around 5 minutes then pop them back in the vehicle for a little bit and repeat. The more they get used to it before the first workshop the better they will handle it
- Speak to your instructor if you are really concerned as they are likely able to help beforehand
